The design industry has been transformed by high technology, with computerized drafting (CAD), now widely utilized. Courses offered by IRSC focus on the use of computers and a variety of CAD software programs. The Associate in Science Degree in Architectural Design and Construction Technology trains students in the most up-to-date methods of practice, to use and produce drawings. Most courses combine classroom instruction with lab and “hands-on” learning is emphasized. The professional architectural draftsperson prepares drawings for a variety of business uses. Architectural offices, design/development firms, general contractors, and truss manufacturing plants are just a few of the businesses that engage architectural drafting services.
