The IRCC dance curriculum offers a comprehensive 2-year study of dance.  Students who are interested in a professional career, continuing their training at a 4-year institution, or teaching at a dance studio will find plenty of opportunities to train and perform.  Classes in modern dance and ballet make up the core technique classes, but our emphasis is on performance training and providing opportunities to dance.  The Dance Program works very closely with the Theatre Program so dance majors are also required to take acting and voice classes in addition to dance technique classes.  Guest artists and choreographers in both ballet and modern are brought in each year to enhance curriculum and offer new styles.

Performing experiences abound at IRCC. Dance students have an opportunity to become part the IRCC Dance Ensemble, which produces 1 formal dance concert and 1 student choreography recital each year as well as informal concerts at festivals and community events.  In addition, many dancers join with the Theatre students in dance application dramas, and with the Musical Theater students in the spring and summer musicals.

As members of the American College Dance Festival and the Florida Dance Association, the dance majors travel to conferences and festivals at least twice each year.   Dance majors have attended the ACDFA conferences for the last 4 years.  We have also traveled to the University of South Florida in Tampa, FL to perform and attend the Performing Arts Festival.

On the main campus in Ft. Pierce, FL, The McAlpin Fine Arts Center, the Wynne Black Box Theater, and the Fee Dance Studio provide the IRCC Dance student with excellent facilities and the talents of a professional technical staff.

Dancing at IRCC provides you the opportunities to reach your dream.
