I have been a teacher since 1964 (oh
my!!). I have taught in a
very small high school (less than 200 students) and in a very
large high school (more than 3000 students). I have also taught
and been department chair in a university laboratory school
dedicated to training teachers (Illinois State University). I
have supervised student teachers for
Southern Illinois
University, Illinois State University, and
University of
Toledo.
I have a Bachelor's Degree in Education from Illinois
State University, a Master's Degree in Educational Psychology
from the
University Of Illinois
and about 40
graduate hours in a doctoral program in education. I am an Associate Professor here at
IRCC and have been here since 1990 teaching English and
Education courses.
Recently I
presented a paper at the Florida Educational Technology
Conference in Orlando titled
25 Simple Rules for the Online College Professor.
My husband is a professor at
Florida Atlantic University Treasure
Coast campus in the Department of Educational Leadership. If you
take any graduate classes in Educational Leadership, you'll
probably have him. We have three children, six grandchildren,
three dogs, and three cats. We love to toss the Golden
Retriever, the Shi-Tzu, the Chihuahua, and the three cats into our motor home
and take off for the summer--usually to
Illinois,
Pennsylvania, and
Maine where our family live.
If you cannot come to my office during the
stated office hours, please call so that we can arrange for a
time to meet. If you have a question, you can e-mail
(djurenas@ircc.edu)
or call (772-462-7673)..
