About Me
Hello, I am Christin Ranne. I work in the Learning Assistance Department as a College-Prep English Instructor. I teach ENC 0080 & ENC 0001, Basic English Review & Fundamentals of Writing. I am a happy co-sponsor of IRSC's newly formed English Club. Contact me if you, too, wish to become a member.
I have been here at IRSC since November of 2002, and I love teaching English! I received my B.A. in English Literature from Florida Atlantic University; however, I was born in North Babylon on Long Island, N.Y. I have been a Floridian for over ten years now, and I enjoy the beaches of Florida. I also enjoy reading, writing, camping, spending time with my family, and listening to music of all kinds. Currently, I have returned to FAU, and I am pursuing my master’s degree in Curriculum & Instruction with a core in English.
My goal is to prepare students for their academic career by focusing on grammar basics, fundamentals of writing, and critical thinking. Communicating effectively, both in conversation and in writing, is a necessary skill at school and work. College-prep English courses set the foundation for students to reach many goals. The courses are designed to prepare students for their writing needs in college coursework and practical writing. Please contact me if you have any questions regarding the Prep English courses here at IRSC.

ENC 0001- Writing First, Kirszner/Mandell 3/e, From Practice to Mastery (packaged with textbook)
Other: Beginning spring 2008, some ENC 0001 courses may require CRITERION, a web-based writing evaluation tool, available through an access code card purchased in the bookstore.
Lab Component: All college-prep courses require time spent on lab assignments/lab time. The Academic Support Centers are resource labs where students will receive academic assistance. Prep English courses will require lab assignments and time in the ASC. Students should track time spent in the ASC by using a log sheet. Instructors generally provide these sheets to students; however, your instructor may have another way for you to record your time/assignments. Check with your instructor regarding lab requirements. Tracking your time is recommended for your own records.
