The Honors Program at Indian River State College is intended for students with high academic ability, and it is designed to give them exceptional opportunities to develop their intellectual capacities well beyond the scope of the standard Associate of Arts degree. The Honors Program is dedicated to fostering an academic environment in which ambitious goals and outstanding achievement are facilitated and celebrated.
 

The mission of the Honors Program is to create a stimulating learning environment that will both engage and challenge students while broadening their world view. Utilizing an interdisciplinary approach, the Honors Program fosters intellectual inquiry, promotes critical evaluation, and encourages practical application.
 

Students who successfully complete the Honors Program will earn either an Honors Certificate or an Honors Diploma, depending on the number of Honors credits they earn. Because the Honors Program emphasizes the interconnectedness of knowledge and learning across the entire range of the liberal arts curriculum, graduates of the program will be especially strong candidates for transfer scholarships to elite colleges and universities. The Honors Program actively recruits a diversity of students, and seeks to attract participants of all ages and backgrounds.
