Our residential carpentry program will prepare you for high quality entry-level jobs in the construction industry. The training in this course will take you from beginning carpenter to skilled worker in the construction field. The classroom, laboratory, and various job sites provide the locations that are needed for learning all required skills for this high demand field. The Carpentry program is set up to take advantage of three different learning environments. The students take their knowledge gained from the textbooks and apply it directly in the lab and out on the site! About 60% of the instruction is on the actual job site. The class is involved in all phases of construction from framing and roofing to drywall and finish. Safety is always our top priority. |

Class starts at 7:00 A.M. and book work is done at your own pace. However, the student is required to finish all chapters before graduation. Students may sign up and join our class anytime during the semester. |
The “Lab” is reminiscent of a shop you might have seen in High School. We have many machines in it to do a variety of neat projects. We work here when the weather is bad or when we are in-between bigger projects. Sometimes we use it as a preparation site for bigger projects off campus. |

Here the students have a chance to apply everything they’ve just read in their text books and were taught in the classroom. At times the task of applying this knowledge can be very challenging. Yet at the same time working through it brings great satisfaction and builds confidence. There is a great sense of teamwork and camaraderie on the site. |
The best thing of all is the fact that we build these homes with Habitat for Humanity and when the houses are completed there’s a great sense of pride in what you’ve just accomplished! |
